vSERV Management Console
Colorado Software Architects (CSA) announces the vSERV Management Console
("vSERV MC") application which complements the CSA vSERV application. vSERV is an application that transforms a Microsoft Windows server storage environment into a manageable pool of shared storage. The vSERV MC application provides administrators of vSERV installations with a graphical view of the storage they have in their vSERV shares. Being able to view and navigate through the vSERV shares in a Windows Explorer like user interface let's administrators view where files are located amongst multiple servers and be able to move files from one server to another server. This provides administrators the ability to easily and quickly take a server out of commission without the end users knowing there has been a server change. The critical data that is in the vSERV share on the server that is being taking out of commission can be moved to the new server with just a drag-n-drop motion.
In addition, the vSERV Management Console helps optimize the files which are
spanned over multiple servers.
The vSERV Mangement Console provides the following benefits:
- Simplified load balancing of data across vSERV enabled aggregated storage servers
- Transparent migration of data from obsolete servers to vSERV enabled aggregated storage servers
- Easy visualization of the physical location of data on vSERV enabled aggregated storage servers
- Reduced administration costs
- Reduced storage costs
- Increased storage system performance
The first version of the vSERV Management Console application will have a user interface similar to the Windows Explorer user interface and will be smart enough to see vSERV aggregation groups and display the non-virtualized shares in the aggregation groups.
